Throughout the 1950s and '60s, deer hunting was big business for the states. Maine was selling 250,000 licenses a year and the success rate ran around 10 percent. In the 1970s, the number of hunters hitting the woods decreased significantly...The future looks grim for hunting, as the youngsters of today are all caught up in speed ... fishing is getting more popular and should survive for many years to come....
