Deer herd numbers in the county are considered to be falling, according to an early draft of the deer management plan introduced in 2008, which can be found at the link www.blacktailcountry.com/videoclips/siskiyoumgmtplan.pdf


The tasks for the supervisors include supporting antler-less hunting, finding funding for deer biology studies, considering conservation easements, analyzing effectiveness of parcel size readjustments and protecting deer habitats through resource overlays.


The board chose to authorize Cook and Kobseff to assess the identified tasks with a four to one vote
