... The goal is to return the Colville forest to more natural conditions, creating stands of trees that are better equipped to survive droughts and insect attacks... Over time, habitat would improve for animals such as Canada lynx, grizzly bears and pileated woodpeckers. Thinning dense thickets of trees will also increase deer and elk forage and winter habitat.
