Hunters protest plan to auction premium tags February 10, 2012 Idaho, Lewiston Morning Tribune

A bill in the Idaho Legislature to establish special hunting tags that would be sold to the highest bidder is facing resistance from hunters who say it favors the wealthy and amounts to selling wildlife.... Senate Bill 1256 would give the Idaho Fish and Game Commission the authority to establish as many as 12 auction tags - up to three each for elk, deer and antelope ... Backers says the precedent of offering extra hunting opportunities to those willing and able to pay a premium price was set long ago and the auction tags would raise much-needed revenue that will improve hunting for everyone.
