F&G may expand hunts after fire November 10, 2011 Idaho, The Idaho Statesman

F&G says more than 5000 deer have used the burned area in the past, representing about 40 percent of the wintering population in the Smoky-Bennett Population Management Unit ... the controlled hunts are designed to help minimize deer crowding on winter ranges, lessen deer feeding of private lands and roads, and to provide hunting opportunity.
