Mule Deer Beat Odds after Blair Fire February 2, 2012 Idaho, Twin Falls Times-News
...biologists from the Idaho Department of Fish and Game thought this would cause the herd to head south, increasing the chances that more of the animals would be hit while crossing Idaho’s roads and damage cultivated fields in search of food.... But it hasn’t happened. Mild winter conditions allowed the deer to remain in parts of their range that didn’t burn, said Randy Smith, Fish and Game regional wildlife manager based in Jerome.
