No end in sight for deer's Chronic Wasting Disease October 16, 2011 Indiana, Bloomington Pantagraph 

... IDNR took an aggressive stance to slow its spread in the state from the beginning once it was discovered along the Wisconsin border in 2002. More hunting permits were issued in affected areas and the state sent sharpshooters to reduce deer density to lower the odds infected animals would come into contact with healthy deer... Last year saw the first infected deer in the counties of Grundy, Kane and Jo Daviess. They were among 42 new cases confirmed in the state's northern tier. They brought the total to 336 cases found in 10 counties.
