... Cervid's, as defined by LDWF, are animals including but not limited to white-tailed deer, mule deer, elk, moose, caribou, fallow deer, axis deer, sika deer, red deer and reindeer.  The ban on the cervid importation is to reduce the risk of CWD [chronic wasting disease] transfer in the current Louisiana deer population...
