Viral disease found in local deer  9/29/2010  WWMT WEST MICHIGAN (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - 

The DNRE has discovered a sometimes fatal viral disease in deer in West Michigan. It's been found in white-tailed deer in Berrien, Cass, and Ottawa Counties..
The DNRE says the disease causes extensive hemorrhages and is transmitted by a fly bite. Deer will initially lose their appetite and fear of people. 

There is no effective treatment for EHD.

There is no evidence that humans can get the virus. 

If you find a dead deer you think died from EHD call the DNRE.
