... The Mackinac Bridge Authority recorded 4,207 deer as of 11 p.m. Sunday for 2013. In 2012, hunters returned home across the 5-mile span with 6,420 deer in tow as of 11 p.m. on Dec. 1, according to official calculations, representing a 34 percent decrease from 2012 to 2013... the long-lasting winter had taken a toll on the 1 1/2-year-old animals which make up a substantial portion of the annual harvest...
