Eric Sharp: National Resources Commission just can't allow deer baiting  May 29, 2011  Michigan  Management  Detroit Free Press

Michigan's Natural Resources Commission apparently has decided to hand animal rights activists the ammunition they need to argue that deer hunters are just a mob of Elmer Fudds, the cartoon character who hunts "wabbits." The NRC is ready to let hunters in most of the Lower Peninsula resume baiting deer, even though I haven't been able to find a single wildlife biologist who thinks this is a good idea -- and I doubt the NRC could find one. How long will it be before animal rights groups decide that a policy decision on baiting that ignores science is an issue they can take to the public in a referendum?
