The NRC voted to include southern and some eastern U.P. counties as well as Gogebic. This allows feeding of deer during rough winters.

And for members of the Upper Peninsula Sportsmen's Alliance, this is a long time coming.

"This has been a struggle that we've been dealing with for 10 to 12 years," explained UPSA President, Dale McNamee. "It's taken a long time to gather our thoughts to work up some details to figure out a way to actually feed the deer when they need to be fed. It doesn't happen every year, but it helps the survival of the herd to maintain a viable population."
