Delisting, or crying wolf again? December 25, 2011 Minnesota, Duluth News Tribune

Minnesota's wolf population is estimated at 3000 ... the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service intends to return wolf management to the states ... nobody in the Minnesota DNR has spent more time on the wolf issue than [Bill] Berg ... I asked Berg if a hunting and trapping season on wolves is merited.... “Not biologically,” ... “It’s fairly easy to trap wolves,” ... The state had a series of severe winters in the late 1960s, decimating the deer herd. Deer season was closed in 1971. The wolf was listed as an endangered species in 1974
