Town and Country Alderman Hear Report On Deer Management June 27, 2011 Missouri Urban KPLR 11
...He cited that studies from around the country support that the most effective way to reach a goal of 30 deer per square mile, was to employ sharp shooters; but also stated that this is only one of many methods that could be used to control the deer population in Town and Country. Currently Town and Country has a population estimated at 66 deer per square mile. Captain Hoelzer, states that urban wildlife experts say the city has too many deer and that a population should be closer to 30 deer per square mile for the area. [The physical carrying capacity of a suburban environment can be 100+ deer per mile].
