Plan OK'd to guide CMR (Charles M. Russell National Wildlife Refuge) refuge for next 15 years May 12, 2012 Montana, Billings Gazette
An estimated 250,000 people a year visit the refuge, mostly to hunt big game such as mule deer, elk and bighorn sheep... Out of the four alternatives considered in the EIS, the agency chose the one that emphasizes “biological diversity, biological integrity and environmental health.”... “the priority public uses would be hunting, fishing, wildlife observation, photography, interpretation and environmental education.” Economic uses such as livestock grazing, commercial guiding and outfitting would be de-emphasized.
