Public lands [and deer] belong to the people February 26, 2012 Montana, Billings Gazette 

Not only did the Magna Carta give our Founding Fathers the foundation for writing our Constitution, it also provided the blueprint for the Public Trust Doctrine which we follow in management of our public lands. In essence, the Magna Carta said that the King's deer (wildlife) and land belonged to the people. As a result, we have publicly owned land and wildlife in the United States.
