2011 Deer Kill - New Hampshire Fish and Wildlife October 2, 2011

... As of the deer registration call-in on 26 September... The 2011 reported kill was again below that seen from 2003 to 2009 in all counties but was similar to 2010 and consistent with the desire for reduced antlerless kills. The reduction in archery antlerless kill is designed to contribute to more rapid deer population recovery following some recent bad winters. The archery season will continue to be antlered bucks only through the end of September and will then revert back to any deer on Saturday, October 1st statewide. Also beginning October 1st, Special Unit M Antlerless permits will become valid. Reports of fall foods are somewhat different from recent years with generally less abundant acorns but good apple production and one of the best beechnut crops in many years.
