Tuxedo Park: Health concerns prompt deer culling February 17, 2102 New York, Pike County Courier 

Fears about Lyme disease in the region have increased with new data published in the February issue of the American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, [this study did not investigate the relationship between deer and Lyme disease, specific research shows that a deer cull is generally not effect against Lyme] ... Tuxedo Park was looking to decrease the amount of Lyme disease cases seen within the village... The village’s goal is to get the herd to be 10 deer per square mile, which the DEC also says is its goal to achieve forest equilibrium [the recommended number varies widely among forest management sources]
