Chapel Hill, Divided council rejects hunting March 2, 2011 North Carolina Urban Chapel Hill News BY KATELYN FERRAL, Staff Writer CHAPEL HILL -

 Deer can already be hunted in Chapel Hill, but the Town Council isn't ready to become a hunter. The town voted 6-4 to receive a petition to act. In the past, the town staff has recommended education on deer resistant plants. Some residents object to bow hunting in a densely populated area.
Residents are split on the issue with those supporting deer culling citing lyme disease and damage to plants.
