NDGF to offer fewer deer tags across the state this fall  May 15, 2011  North Dakota  Hunting  Managegement  Grand Forks Herald

Statewide, the department will offer 109950 licenses for this year's firearms deer season, a drop of 6825 from last year and the lowest since 2001. Randy Kreil, wildlife division chief for Game and Fish in Bismarck, said the decline results from lower deer numbers nearly everywhere in the state. “Declining deer numbers are indicative of three successive difficult winters resulting in high deer mortality and extremely low reproductive success,” Kreil said in a news release. “
