Number of deer licenses lowest since 2001  May 10, 2011  North Dakota  Hunting  Brian Gehring/Tribune 

The number of deer tags for the upcoming gun season will be down slightly in most units. Statewide, there will be 6825 fewer licenses, a decline of 6 percent. “Declining deer numbers are indicative of three successive difficult winters resulting in high deer mortality and extremely low reproductive success...the survey data showed a drop in the mulie population of 23 percent from the previous year and a 38 percent decline the Chair of the city Police and Safety Committee said 16 deer related calls in 2010 accounted for just .0008 percent of all calls for service last 
year.since 2007.
