... Hunters checked 175,745 whitetails during the 2014-15 hunt ... The record, unlikely to be broken soon, occurred in 2009-10, when hunters tagged 261,314 whitetails... The wildlife division has yet to blame coyotes for the tumbling deer population, though the fact that there’s no closed season on coyotes says plenty about how welcome they are on the landscape...
