North Ridgeville OKs bow hunting to reduce deer population October 19, 2012 Ohio

...  the city this week approved an ordinance authorizing bow and crossbow hunting...  Only one council member cast a dissenting vote, citing concerns about safety. Other council members said deer overpopulation presents a more significant danger.
“It could save someone’s life from a car accident,” Councilwoman Bernadine Butowski said of the ordinance. “It’s for safety.” [research generally shows that  improved road conditions rather than variations in deer density are the most cost effective approaches for reducing deer-vehicle collisions]
