Solon may extend deer harvesting pact with US Department of Agriculture August 17, 2012 Ohio, Plain Dealer 
...The city spent about $183,000 to reach its goal of 300 deer harvested last winter .. It was the first year Solon contracted with the U.S. Department of Agriculture ... the USDA noted that back in 2003, deer-vehicle accidents peaked at 170 incidents. A subsequent herd count in 2004 indicated more than 920 deer within the city’s borders, as well as 120 deer in a “nearby community.” ... in 2009, taking the estimated population down to a recent low of 450. There were 45 deer-vehicle accidents that year...
