Looking for cougar facts‎ February 25, 2012 Oregon, Albany Democrat Herald

Captain Jeff Samuels, who is in charge of the Oregon State Police Fish and Wildlife Enforcement Division ... told me about one study of radio-collared mule deer in South-Central Oregon between 2005 and 2011. In this study, 11 percent of the deer were determined to have been killed legally and 13 percent were killed illegally. Captain Samuels went on to tell me that 10 percent were killed by vehicles and the largest known mortality factor were cougar kills at 14 percent.
