BLM will burn acreage to improve deer, lily - 9/30/2010  Oregon

The Bureau of Land Management will burn a total of 83 acres over the next five days in the Riddle and Sutherlin areas to reduce fire danger, improve habitat for the Columbian white-tailed (?) deer and provide fertile ground for a threatened plant, the mariposa lily.

A BLM fire ecologist, Krisann Kosel, said burning in the North Bank Habitat also improves forage for the Columbia white-tail deer.
