... most biologists and growers consider buck deer to have about a 100 to 110-day growing season...a very few bucks drop their antlers in December, some in January, a lot in February and a pretty fair number hang on to theirs until early March. It is unusual, but not unheard of for a buck to still be carrying his rack into April or early May....Yet the shedding of velvet seems to be a fairly consistent theme, hinging more on the shorter amount of daylight than anything else.
