... the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) has an agenda to grow mature trees to the detriment of wild creatures that rely on early successional growth to thrive. They’ve pressured the game commission to control the deer herd on state forests but they aren’t willing to provide habitat by cutting mature stands aggressively. After all the deer lived in the forests long before they decided to grow timber for the Chinese furniture market.
