"We captured a total of 242 deer and 83 were fitted with collars," [PGC deer program biologist Amanda] Powell said. "As we expected, vehicles are the biggest reason for mortality.... Some of the collared deer have dispersed more than five miles from where they were trapped, which is not unusual. Only does were fitted with collars because the necks of bucks expand during the rut, but some of them received ear transmitters."
