State deer herd getting bigger, better January 11, 2015 Tennessee, The Daily Times
... Wildlife biologists know that a larger number of older deer means a better breeding population. TWRA Big Game Coordinator Darryl Ratajczak reports that in the mid-1990s 50 percent of the bucks taken were 2.5 years old or older, and every year since then that percentage has been increasing.
