Anthrax in deer and livestock is most common during wet periods following prolonged drought. As that’s a perfect description of the current scenario in parts of Texas and elsewhere in the southern Great Plains... we shouldn’t be surprised if 2012 sees another significant outbreak.... ranchers with captive herds can run deer through handling facilities to vaccinate them, that’s not the case in the wild... no way to deliver the vaccine via feed or water ...
