... For generations, running deer with dogs had been a primary method of hunting deer...  in the early 1980s when a Parks and Wildlife study indicated deer herds on East Texas tracts not hunted with dogs were healthier than on those where dogs were run...Next week, the TPW Commission will consider and almost certainly approve a proposal to drop the tracking dog prohibition in another 12 East Texas counties, allowing hunters there the opportunity to use the amazingly effective tracking dogs to locate deer that otherwise would have been lost and wasted...
