Will hunters see a rebound in whitetails? September 23, 2011 Virginia, Roanoke.com

...the statewide deer kill of just under 220,000 represented a 15percent decline from the record kill of nearly 260,000 recorded a season prior and 3 percent less than the average over the past decade....Deer herd numbers are still robust across the eastern half of Virginia, while the western part of the state bore the brunt of last year's decline....The kill in the area dubbed the Southern Mountain Region by the DGIF was down 28 percent last season, while the Northern Mountain kill was down 20 percent.
