The neighborhood had been exploring a plan that would have sent trained archers into the community after them. By a vote of 297 to 251, community members voted to spare the deer. Each lot in the neighborhood was accorded two votes, and 550 votes were cast

Opponents had blamed the deer for property damage and the spread of Lyme disease [deer density is not correlated with Lyme] , as well as pointing to the risk of automobile collisions.

Opponents of the plan have argued that deer help give Dunlora its unique, nature-friendly character and aren’t a problem or a menace.
