... GOAL: To ensure measures are taken to optimize both public health and the health of the White Tailed Deer in our community. OBJECTIVES: 1. Decrease the number of resident complaints and encounters. 2. Decrease the Lyme disease rate [deer cull not effective against Lyme]. 3.Discourage deer herding within town limits. 4. Minimize vehicle encounters. 5.Continually assess the health of the deer in town by monitoring the appearance, the reproduction rate, and work with West Virginia Department of Natural Resources on potential or suspected onset of disease.
This report is not recommending an optimum deer population for the town of Harpers Ferry
