... Preliminary results from the study in 2011 and 2012 showed most fawn mortalities occurred by the end of August, mostly from predation.  Over the first two years of the study, fawn survival (up to nine to 10 months old) was 62% in the Shiocton area compared with 35% in the Winter area.  Fawn survival was better in both areas in 2012, which featured an early green-up.  Predation rates on fawns have been lower in the east-central (41%) than in the northern (62%) study area ...
