... although the statewide deer total statewide is down slightly statewide, it is up dramatically in northwestern Wisconsin...  the deer numbers that hunters are reporting are nowhere near the totals that were commonplace during the heyday of the hunt in the early 2000s but represent a substantial improvement over the relative dearth reported in the last few years...
