The DNR has used Earn-a-Buck and T-zone hunts to keep the state'sdeer herd in check the last several years. Some hunters have been outspoken about the programs saying they don't work. Lawmakers say its time for the DNR to scrap a pair of unpopular programs.

By Paul A. Smith of the Journal Sentinel In response to criticism from some hunters, the Department of Natural Resources announced plans Thursday to jettison two fundamental planks of its recent deer management program - Earn-A-Buck and the October antlerless hunts.
