... since the discovery of chronic wasting disease, a fatal brain illness, in Wisconsin’s wild white-tail deer population, wildlife experts worry about the role of private deer farms and ranches in the potential spread of CWD or other diseases... high-fenced spreads where, for anywhere from $2,500 to $10,000 or more, you can shoot a trophy buck ... The DNR estimates there are about 55 such private hunting operations and around 500 deer farms ... state law requires that hunting ranches be a minimum of 80 acres ...
