Madison: Find ways to keep deer out of parks  January 14, 2012 Wisconsin State Journal, Lynn Pauly

Parks Conservation Resource Supervisor Russ Hefty explained that 10 years ago there were no deer at this park, five to seven years ago they were more common, and now it has reached a critical level ... Hefty said that ideally there should be an occasional deer at Sandburg so it would be "a treat to see the deer." We can't have it both ways. Making the parks enticing to deer so we can be "treated" to their presence is asking for more deer, creating an endless cycle of killing.
