Mourning the mule deer November 3, 2011 Wyoming, Pinedale Roundup, Paul Rock

I am sure when the last mule deer on the Mesa dies from some combination of asphyxiation, exhaustion, homesickness and grief, the Bureau of Land Management’s Pinedale Field Office Manager will no doubt call for a moment of respectful silence ... and suggests an attractive commemorative plaque be erected at some suitable location.... Until then, the remaining deer will look on in bewilderment and fear at a place they’ve called home for 10,000 years.
