...helicopter traffic at the new Teton County Search and Rescue facility has not affected mule deer at the site. The researchers, from Alder Environmental...observed deer in the vicinity of the helicopter pad, noting their behavior and characteristics, and monitored them during helicopter training and missions conducted by search and rescue volunteers....during 16 “response monitoring events” and found that 128 deer, about 72 percent, showed no response to nearby helicopters. During those same observations, researchers noted 48 deer responded, though none displayed “medium, high or extreme” responses. Only one walked away during helicopter activities, researchers said... “These deer go into town and feed on people’s plants and then go back to the hill during the day time,” ... “They’re used to people and vehicles and mechanized activity.”
