Survey finds no consensus on Cody's problem deer June 24, 2011 Wyoming Urban Billings Gazette


...City Parks Director Rick Manchester presented the findings ...The city sent out more than 5,000 surveys and 1,546 were returned. Manchester said 56 percent of those who returned their survey said they were concerned about the city's population of urban deer, while 44 percent said they had no concerns. Yet when asked if they'd like to see the city adopt an action plan to reduce the deer herd, 50 percent of the respondents said yes while 50 percent said no...When asked if controlled hunting would be acceptable, 46 percent said no while 41 percent said yes. On sharpshooting, 57 percent said that was unacceptable while just 30 percent said it was appropriate...The committee agreed to work with Wyoming Game and Fish to conduct a count of the city's deer.
