A controversial deer management plan narrowly passed at Grand Forks City Council on Monday following what the committee says has been an extensive process of research and public input. The plan, passing with 4-3 in favour, ... The plan involves strategies for use of repellents, fencing, landscaping, public awareness and education, advocacy at the provincial level for changes in regulations, enforcing the anti-deer feeding bylaw and installing signs. The more controversial aspects are the initiatives including minimum numbers for experimental programs to trap and release or relocate, culling through use of sharp-shooters, and fertility control experiments.
