The deer at Iroquoia Heights won't be targets of a mass kill — at least for three years. An advisory committee assembled to tackle deer overpopulation in the conservation area has urged the Hamilton Conservation Authority (HCA) to avoid a hunt as a way to ...The three-year reprieve is expected to give the HCA more time to monitor the deer population and its effects on area ecology. It will also allow the authority to see if non-lethal solutions, such as a public education campaign or a municipal bylaw to deter from feeding the deer, are working.
