Pelham, Family launches petition to stop deer hunt January 3, 2013 Canada, St. Catharines Standard
Officials from the Ministry of Natural Resources said Wednesday the aboriginal Haudenosaunee Confederacy approached them about hunting deer in the 735-hectare park and they were obliged to say yes because of rules set out in the Indian Act... Ministry spokeswoman Jolanta Kowalski confirmed the two-weekend hunt isn't about culling an overpopulation of deer...  the move to allow hunting of any sort inside the public park has angered many in Niagara, including the Zavitz family, who launched an online petition Wednesday (available HERE)
