A plan to cull the deer has been approved and from now until Sept. 15, members of the public and First Nations are being invited to comment on the environmental assessment. For the last two years, Sallas has used an elaborate corral system, dark rooms, captive bolt gun and a mobile meat processor to reduce the deer population....It is estimated there are about 750 deer on Sidney Island, down from 2,000 two years ago.
